It was Dave Canterbury who made me aware of Nessmuk (George Washington Sears). Canterbury advocated seeking out and studying the writings and teachings of the earlier writers (1800's and early 1900's). When you start to really become a student of this game, you become aware of just how significant Nessmuk's contributions have become and how his works have influenced the thought of current survival experts. The only reason why he isn't (properly) ranked #1 on this list is because he never had a T.V. show.
