Epic song. It is far better than smoke on the water and makes me feel so insane. It should only be compared with other epic songs like stargazer, stairway to heaven, aqualung. By far the best song of Deep Purple. I find it hard to explain its "mightyness" with words.

Sorry guys. There may be some good moments in this song, but Ian’s falsetto gets on my nerves after a few minutes. This is definitely not Deep Purple’s best song by a long shot. Smoke on the Water, Highway Star, Space Truckin’, Lazy, Woman from Tokyo, Burn, just to name a few are all better songs. Just my opinion. Also, I believe that Deep Purple is one of the best rock bands of all-time. Child in Time is just not their best song.
