While perhaps not as daring as Batman 1989 or the Nolan trilogy, it uses this to its advantage and has very few flaws. The performances are phenomenal, absolutely stellar. It's like a really high-budget episode, but it's not stretched out. The story is great, and really enthralling. It's scored masterfully. The characters are well-defined and interesting. The writing is really smart, and the writers navigate the twists and turns of the story incredibly well. I don't think it's just the best Batman movie, it's a top-notch animated film. A fantastic movie second only to The Dark Knight in Batman film history.

I like how Phantasm shows batman's options to be happy and early crime fighting, but under the red hood tells a generally better story and explores batman's morality complex and dark knight returns explores batman's psychological state and his struggle. and its more grounded

Not super interested in batman's love story. This is really a love story. Batman was in love folks. he had a chance to be happy but life happened so he didn't stick with happiness. That's pretty much it. doesn't deserve top 5 but can get top 10 though
