Lemony Snicket did a spectacular job doing this, and for the people saying it is repetitive, it is not, but I will try not to get mad at you. Lemony is very humorous while writing in a witty way, and the series is very frighteningly dark. Also, I like the mystery part as the Baudelaire's try to find about VFD and how everything is connected. Lemony shows how not everything has a happy ending, but doesn't do this in a way that is "scary." The characters are very resourceful, and the books grow stronger and stronger. There is actually tiny bits of romance as well, for anyone interested in that. The ending was very emotional and strong, and Lemony rapped it up in the most amazing way any author has done, making this my favorite series.(the hunger games was also good, but it isn't a child series, and parts of it in MockingJay were boring) - MaxAurelius

If you like mysteries, humor, and creepy books than this is the series for you. This series leaves you on so many cliffhangers and always leaves you wanting to find out more, and in the end the Baudilares don't find out every piece of information they need to know but this story has a very sweet ending. This book always leaves you hanging after a book or a chapter, which always kept me interested and I kept reading on and on in each book wanting to find out more. This book series also shows that even kids can survive on their own and able to do the same adults are capable of doing on their own. The children in this series are great role models for children telling them that even though you are just a child you a can make decisions for yourself and it always okay to not know the answers or be afraid. This book though, is the best book ever, ever, ever! It teaches you new words and phrases and the plot, love count olaf, sunny is alright but count olaf is so smart and cunning and treacherous. Esme' Squalor cool, I've read all 13 books including Unauthorised Autobiography, my favourite is the first but the Ersatz Elevator where count olafs girlfriend made her debut is good too. Also the miserable mill.

Lemony Snicket confuses the reader in so many various ways, it's not even funny. Well, actually it is. ASOUE is that kind of series that you would absolutely love if it were a person. It's mysterious and has all these twists and turns that you never expect. It's like the world's scariest roller coaster! I love it! ASOUE is one of the best series I've EVER READ. No jokes.

I hate these books. I sometimes feel that Mr. Snicket overdetails the least important parts and rushes the most exciting ones. Everyone in my class loves them, but I loathe them. I honestly think that other kids should begin reading harder books. I stopped reading at the first book, and would never ever read the others!

This is more well written than all of the above book series. I don't understand how a book that uses figurative devices as LITERAL devices cannot be #1. I love grammar, and I loved this book.
