I'm writing it from a Polish point of view. It's one of the books we have to read at school and every literature teacher seems to love it and the minority who doesn't see it as a masterpiece is getting bashed. It's a bit ironic though, because the book that was basically saying 'f you' to people who criticized Gombrowicz's earlier work and yet it's the one most praised by critics and teachers. - saaarsdej
