This is just a great song and it shares with us why we should be thankful for our United States, and it's been around my childhood for as long s I remember this is my favorite song out of this album. It just truly states what war is about and what would happen if we didn't win World War 1 or 2? Would we even be here? Freedom of speech? Freedom of religion? Would that even exist if it wasn't for our Veterans? That is why I love this song. You have to know the meaning of the songs to actually enjoy them. If you don't why even HAVE songs? I hate that so many people misinterpret this song (not here, luckily). If you like Rise Against, you must know that yes, however unpatriotic you perceive it to be, they were always anti-war. That is a heartfelt, true belief they stand for, even if without any explanation or further thought it seems just a naive statement - but they thought on it, and they sing it, and it's one of the million reasons I love them so much.

This is the most moving song I have ever heard... Just too awesome music. For me this song is the best of rise against irrespective of what others may think.The acoustic guitar gives such a raw feel to the song, well you may as well cry... Just too good...A salute to Rise Against for making such a song...

It's just a damn good song. I've been always saying something like 'War's no good, for anybody. ' But this song told my opinion so truely and so directly, that I started to cry, when I heard it first. It's my favourite one from Rise Against. So really thanks to Tim and his guys for writing this song!

Love this song. They do such great acoustic songs. Swing Life Away is good, but it doesn't compare with Hero of War simply Rise Against's best song. You can't go wrong with listening to any of the songs on this list.
