What makes Dedede special over Boswer or Ganondorf it's his character development, at first he was an egocentric king that only think himself, but then kirby defeat him an he get angry, so in kirby super star he do it again to have the same result.but it's in kirby super star ultra when things changes, he does his best along with his allies to defeat kirby, showing his relationship with they, in the end he lost again and we see hi walking in the sunset no angry, no careless, but sadhe realizes that no matter how hard he tried he never will defeat kirby, his allies showing respect walk along.and since then he was only being manipulate by others, I can go a lot deep like in kirby 64 but you get the idea

DIMENTIO!?!I mean... he's not a bad villain but how can you put THE dedede behind?!Dedede is more popular for a good reason, he has more appearances in games ( ssbb and ssb4 for exemple ) and a better impact on gameplay or story since he is an ally or an enemy/adversary, he's more versatile as a character and has honestly a better design ( whether his ssb4 design or in Kirby star allies, with Macho Dedede ).I really liked super paper mario but again...It's just ONE game.(My opinion : don't judge me but I find dimentio really annoying and he does not have this much personality! I seriously think that fawful's way better but as much as DEDEDE! ).

King DeDeDe is amazing because he has no evil goal like Bowser, Ganon, or Ridley. He just happens to get possessed a lot by more devious villains like Dark Matter, Yin-Yarn and Taranza. He helps Kirby in some games and fights him sometimes just for the fun of it. Also, his boss theme is much better than Bowser's or Ridley's(In my opinion anyway) even if he's not the hardest to defeat.
