When Halo first came out, it was without a doubt THE coolest video game I owned. The story was immersive, the firefights were exciting, the enemies were incredible and the first contact with the flood was horrifying. Halo Combat evolved had this sense of mystery about it that no other FPS game I had ever owned could emulate... The wide variety of weapons, vehicles, and characters was mind blowing to me and I also loved that there was a slight horror element to Halo: CE. Keep in mind I was 10 when I first played so it did not take much to scare me. Then Halo 2 Came out... It felt forced, the plot twist were confusing and to be honest not that much fun to be dragged through. The slight element of horror that I thoroughly enjoyed was replaced with aggravation and impatience trying to wade through the annoying wave after wave of flailing armed Flood. Let's make a quick recap:Halo introduced the regenerating health bar trend (even if it's a regenerating shield, but you get the point), it introduced the whole "carry only 2 weapons crap", its story was unoriginal and pretentious, its main character is a lifeless shell, it's heavily unbalanced, the gameplay is mundane and slow-paced, the music is nothing special and overall, for a game whose tagline is "Combat Evolved", Halo did the exact opposite. How ironic, huh? So yes, Halo "Conbat (D) evolved" is not just massively overrated, it's also partially responsible for the downfall of shooters as we know it nowadays.

Are people serious? How young are the people who are voting Halo 1 as overrated? It might feel to overrated to a gen Z who grew up playing newer shooters in 2010s, but when this game came out it deserved all the praise it got. Halo: Combat Evolved is one of the games that changed console gaming and it was still among the best shooters on PC when it was ported. Halo did to console shooters what Half-Life did to shooters in general.

Halo 2 Anniversary and Halo 3 are some of my favorite games ever, but this first game just really doesn't shine much a torch. The only reason people in the Halo community call it a masterpiece is bacause it was really good for its time, but now? Its graphics have shown their age, the levels are repetitive and boring (mostly), the story is extremely simple, and the voice acting? meh, it's okay. I admire Bungie's 5 seconds of fun rule, and the gameplay is pretty solid (although 1/10 for multiplayer) against covies, but that does not warrant it as a great game, not by today's standards. I'd rather play Call Of Duty Infinite Warfare that this any day. All the Halos after, except maybe 5 (and spartan strike/assault) completely outdo it in every aspect.

In fact, I don't really think it's overrated. Halo 3 is my favourite game of all time and all the games are also great. You don't really get screaming little kids on multiplayer, the worst you get is someone putting a vacuum cleaner in their mic, which you can easily solve by muting the chat. Job done. Great offline and online multiplayer, amazing storyline and NOT a horrendous fanbase. I may not have gone deeper into the fanbase, but by actually playing the multiplayer for the last 3 games, the people are OK.

How can a game so mediocre like this actually get a franchise? This game was a disappointment for me from the first few minutes of playing it.- Slow gameplay- 2 gun limits- Regenerating health- Boring Single Player Campaign- Bad Weapon Design- Laughable Enemies- Boring characters (Master Chief is Dull and One dimensional, and Cortana is pretty much useless)- Huge environments with nothing in them- Dull MultiplayerI think what pisses me off the most about halo is the fans constantly going insane every time a new halo is annonced, they run out to gamestop and pre-order it (hurting the industry more), play the game when it comes out and the very next day complain online that it isn't good and that halo hasn't been good in years.What are you talking about? Halo has never been good. Unreal Tournament and Quake III Arena were much better games

Halo is NOT overrated. Without Halo, there would be no Xbox. Without Halo, Rooster Teeth wouldn't exist. Without Halo, Destiny wouldn't have existed, which actually, wouldn't have bothered me. But Halo is NOT overrated. I absolutely love Halo and doesn't deserve to be on this list at all.

Ahhh... I don't like the series at ALL. I don't like the story, it was just futuristic Call of Duty and I don't like the Call of Duty story OR most futuristic games. I HATED multiplayer for the same reason, and I like the Call of Duty multiplayer.The only Halo I like is 4 and that's it.
