We moved here almost 11 years ago due to it being my spouse's assigned military duty station. Although the majority of people here are super standoffish and rude ( can't seem to ever admit when they have made a mistake but make a huge display and DEMAND an apology if they feel you have wronged them in some way), typically don't hold doors open for strangers, and typically the residents where I'm at have zero patience when driving, and feel the need to honk even if they are the ones blatantly in the wrong as per traffic rules. There's an entitled and superior attitude most people have here. We have been referred to as "those NAVY people" in a derogatory way. Seems to be a popular thing to take passive jabs at people. Our postal lady indeed went postal on me- my spouse was deployed and apparently I missed paying the annual fee by a week. I have been here six months and unfortunately is not the best of experiences. There are rude people everywhere in the country. I was hoping the NY reputation was wrong. My interactions to my dismay for the most part are not positive. The opinion I formed is New Yorkers are quick with the temper warranted or not. Lack of humility and respect for others space. But I have met some very nice people and am grateful for that. I was born down south and it is definitely an oppositional environment.

I think New York is the most rudest state i. I went to New York for my birthday week. I was in line and someone skip me twice and guest what the business actually service them knowing they skip. Also my sister got the wrong order when she told them that it was wrong instead of given her the right meal they throw it away and throw her refund on top of the counter and served the next person. True story.

I live in New York state in the capital region area Schenectady Albany troy. I find a lot of people are shady as hell and do things behind your back. They will back stab you in a instant. Nice to your face but when your not looking they demean you. Highly judgmental control freaks, interfere with your happiness and well being, impatient, disrespectful, no boundaries, no respect for your space, consistently inconsistent, chaotic, high stress, not peaceful at all, no one minds their business here, romance is terrible can't ever find a loyal partner, Liars. They are quick to undermine you. Quick to take away your freedom.

I'm from Connecticut and many people are snobby and rude and really have a lot to learn. But some are also very nice. It really depends on a persons temperament and upbringing. That being said, I've lived in many other states and (often) in general people seem to have a more relaxed attitude in some other states. But there can be good and bad anywhere.

I've heard that New York is a very racist state so it should probably be on here. Since it is the most popular state in the USA, there must be very rude people in there and they must have all kinds of people visiting there as well doing a lot of criticising. You would probably know more about this if you have visited, been to or lived in New York before.

It really depends on where you live. And what group you meet. I find the musicians in New York to be the friendliest people. Very open minded and diverse. I grew up in the Midwest and spent time in the south. But when it comes to the suburbs that's a whole different matter. There are some very friendly people who I tend to gravitate toward since they are also in the same boat. And the people who are nice and friendly are some of the best friends to have because they stay nice in a tough place, which makes the the friendliness extra special. And the real sincere people are few and far in between.The moms are not all that friendly unless you are cool. It's like high school. It doesn't take much to get kicked out of the in crowd. You have the moms in book clubs or wine clubs or dinner clubs or game clubs who have an exclusive attitude. If one mom or the dominant mom rejects you, the others reject you. Only 1 person has ever said they were sorry from this state and I have been here 15 years, and many, many horrible things have happened to me and my daughter (special needs). Most, if not all are unwilling to help even if they appear to be your friend. The bad far outweigh the good.
