I live in MS along the coast. Too many want to keep the flag claiming its our heritage. I'm white and constantly say heritage is history, history is the past, the past should remain in the past. They celebrate Confederate Memorial Day which I believe attracts racist people. There was recently a protest by those who want the flag to remain, was live streamed and a white guy actually pulled out a pamphlet with KKK in hoods in it. Although I always say hi to whoever I met, so far I haven't had any issues with people of other race, infact, I have been experiencing respect, consideration, politeness and general kindness from people down here. However, with the new elected on I would definitely pass on MS since he has brought out all the racist people out into the open. Just takes a certain kind of persons to ruin the whole state and they are easy to pick out down here by their use of confederate flag, those who don't want to flag to change which would allow MS to move forward

Missouri is one of the racist states in the country. The county prosecutor is a racist who wasted our tax payer dollars during the Michael Brown case. There was no way that he was going to prosecute a white racist cop for shooting an unarmed teenager. He should not have wasted our time pretending that there would be justice for Michael Brown. This man does not have a since of humanity any where in his body. The Missouri justice system needs to be overhauled.

But, if that doesn't convince you, do the research Mississippi Jail Lynchings of 1990's. (almost 140 years after slavery) and they're still getting away with lynching black people.

Are you serious? I own a car dealership in Mississippi and everyday I deal with several "thugs" trying to come in there, with their terrible credit, trying to get over on me. There are several apartment complexes that we refuse to even deal with people that live there just because every person that we have sold in that neighborhood has turned into a repo. Also check the high school state assessment test, Mississippi has been in the top ten for the past 15+ years.

Black, lived in MS all my life. Yes I've been snubbed sometimes ignored and the justice system is uneven BUT I never knew blatant unadulterated racism till I moved to Chicago.
