Iowa is the least friendly state I have ever been in. I was born in Iowa, and it has changed to a hate state with KKK located in Boone, and the American Nazi Party in Charles City. Education took a nose dive when Branstadt became governor and continues down with parents more interest in tail-gate parties than their children learning. Thumbs down on Iowa (and I live in Iowa)--certainly one of the worst states in the union.

Even at the local Starbucks people are considerate. I was babysitting a kindergarten 5 year old boy and he had to go to the restroom. Someone came up to me a few minutes later and informed me that the door was really heavy so he might be having trouble getting out. How sweet! Then a lady pointed out and helped pick out a LEGO piece he had dropped.

I drove thru Iowa Des Moines in particular, people were so so friendly. My thoughts were very friendly, helpful etc, not a lot of money going around, just a down to earth place. - Debbie880

I definitely agree with this! From Mickeys Irish Pub to the college campus sidewalks, my children were even greeted with respect, patience and consideration. Id contend Iowa should be number one even!
