I think these books had the potential to be SO GOOD, but instead of focusing on world-building and explaining the different factions, we're forced to focus on two of the most BORING characters in any series I've read. Tris is such a cookie-cutter basic protagonist, who's only personality traits are "selfless" and "heroic", as well as her relationship with a one-dimentional emotionally abusive jerk. I don't even remember the friends' names they were so unmemorable. Terribly written overall, read the Hunger Games instead, it's pretty much the same thing only the Hunger Games is FANTASTIC

Ugh Oh my gosh, I hated these books. Seriously, I couldn't get past the first book. So boring, so unnecessarily complicated, it could have been a great series except that it was SO COMPLICATED. The characters took WAY too much time just trying to explain everything. In no way was this better than Hunger Games, in fact when I gave up on reading Divergent( Something I rarely ever do with books, especially dystopias) I immediately went back to read Hunger Games again just so I could recover and read something that I actually enjoyed. - SassyEquine

I just want to say that this is SUCH an underrated book. Four/Tobias is like my favorite fictional boyfriend of all time and Tris is a truly awesome main character. Veronica Roth is an AMAZING author and deserves more credit than she gets. Warning for those who haven't read the books though... Tears are ahead!

Why is this not in the top 3?!?!?! This series if AMAZING. After I finished Harry Potter I didn't want to read anything else but I finally picked up divergent and it was sooo good. I spent all weekend reading and could not put it down. Finally a series where the main character doesn't always live happily ever after. Phenomenal.

Divergent is amazing! finally a series where there isn't a happily ever after. now don't get me wrong, I love harry potter but I was so much more invested in tris and tobias and even christina! like come on, you could see their struggles and you went through it with them together. warning though you will cry so much

I really did like reading this series! It was amazing, really. I think that it should be like top 15 or something. I do like this series. Veronica Roth did an excellent job writing this book. Such detail and power in this book! Really good job, Veronica. Very well done!

I'll admit not bad, however much is repeated from The Hunger Games in my opinion. I've read both series and although I like The Hunger Games better, I think this deserves to be somewhere at least in the top 15.

Whys on earth is this NOT in the top ten?! It is better than Diary of a Wimpy Kid by far in my opinion. Veronica Roth's writing style is brilliant and she keeps you planted, reading that book no matter what else happens around you! Gah!

One of the best book series I've EVER read! The romance between Tris and Four hooked me in from the beginning. I love this series so much! It's a lot better than all of these other series so I think it deserves in the top ten!
