While the backstory behind Courage's sheer devotion to her certainly is fascinating, Muriel herself is just a plain empty shell of a character when compared to Courage himself (not to mention Eustace).Her personality is basically just that she is sweet, naive, gluttonous and Scottish; yes, I am not kidding, those are indeed literally the only traits that she has.
