I think he should be number 3 on this list (currently he is right after Sidious). He defeated Darth Vader, his father who was more training than him and destroyed the Death Star. He clearly cannot defend himself from Darth Sidious' lightning bolts (I guess it's what they're called) because as Vader said to him, "You are unwise to lower your defenses! ". He can defeat Sidious, if only he didn't lower his defenses. But, what I recommend more, is having Luke at number 2 next to Yoda. I mean, he only has short amount of training! At the Empire Strikes back we see him as a skilled Padawan (I didn't know how because nobody taught him the lightsaber tricks) and the next thing we saw on Return of the Jedi was like a Jedi Master even before becoming a Jedi Knight!

It took Luke a very short amount of time to take full control of his powers. He defeated Vader in ROTJ, and destroyed the Death Star. Not only that, but in the Expanded Universe (Which the 7th movie should follow because the stories are awesome) he trains his son Ben, and his 2 nephews and nieces. He is the Grand Master Jedi, brought Anakin back to the good side of the force, and trained hundreds of Jedi to restore order and safety to the New Republic. He was seduced by the dark side many times, but he always remained good and defeated sith.

The creator said Luke was the most powerful, and he should know. If legends are dragged in I would say that the Exile in KOTOR 2 would be a possible candidate for one of the most powerful though no one else discusses him/her.Luke's potential is on par with Anakin's except that Luke trains hard to reach his potential unlike his father. So Luke works hard on his skills and connection like Obi with the raw talent of Anakin, in the end no one can compete with that regardless where cannon goes from here.

Have to agree read the books and none of the other Jedi and I stress Jedi not sith could even touch him Darth bane might give him some trouble and I wouldn't be suprised if he won, but I digress if I was betting I would pick Luke over anyone. On a side note why is general grievous even on this list he was niether Jedi nor sith he couldn't use the force he was mostly machine he was just taught how to fight with a lightsaberlol. Luke is the most powerful Jedi in the Star Wars Universe. You say Darth Vader had the most 'Medichlorins' or whatever they are called but that was only because of Luke. He was so powerful that even his father was thought to be 'the chosen one'. And this is only in the movies, Luke is only on the precipice of his power. I sincerely sujest reading the books, you leartn so much more about the Star wars Universe. I would start with the Darth Bane Series, who is the second most powerful Jedi/Sith.

Therefore, Darth V cannot possibly ANYTHING (first) because of Luke as you state, because Luke came AFTER Darth V... Regardleds of Medichlorins or otherwise. After Episode VI, he became the one of the most powerful Jedi EVER. I meant, he might even be evenly matched with Yoda. In The Last Jedi, we see him make a force projection, something no other Jedi has done before (on screen). He was the Grand Master of the Jedi Order after ROTJ, the most powerful Jedi. How is Luke Skywalker, the main protagonist of one of the best movies of all time, not at least number three. I say number three because I could see how you could think Anakin is stronger, and Yoda is obviously in top three, if not number one, But Luke mastered his powers faster than ny of the other Jedi, from what I can tell. it only took him a few years at most, a few months at least.
