The sound of this album is breathtaking... My favorites are Lost!, Lovers In Japan, Violet Hill, and Strawberry Swing. This is the record that got me into Coldplay. It is a great one. I am considering this to be my favorite album of ALL TIME. The atmosphere, the themes, the melodies, the cover art, the feeling the music gives you... When you're done listening to Death And All His Friends at the end of the album, you just think,"That was heaven on earth... "

When we judge albums we should remember to look not just how good each song is individually, but look at the album as a whole and see how the songs fit together. The dual tracks on this album (like Lovers In Japan/Reign of Love) are brilliant, as well as the ordering of contrasting songs like Violet Hill and then Strawberry Swing, which should be enough to earn the top spot for Viva la Vida.

Every single song in this album is great. The variety they have in this album alone is amazing. It's so dark and happy at the same time. Songs like Violet Hill, Lovers in Japan, Strawberry swing and Cemetaries of London are just masterpieces. The only thing I regret is that I can't put Parachutes higher, because it deserves to be up there with this and ROBHTTH. X and Y at fourth and mylo Xyloto at the VERY BOTTOM!

The fact this is below XY hurts me, not that I didn't love some of what that album brought us (Fix You, A Message, Till Kingdom Come) but to lead with speed of sound (i like but even Coldplay has admited it to be based off of clocks and its success) and the fact Coldplay agrees this album was rushed and is their least spectacular (my wording). 12=AROBTTHVLV then 34=MXPara and you know the rest, I like the ties for different reasons.

I love the theme, the instruments used (like the French horn bell). The lyrics kinda dark but the melody is beautiful. I can't find any other album similar to this. My favourite of all time!
